A holiday weekend outing off Florida's Gulf Coast nearly turned into a catastrophe when a boat flipped near the Sanibel Causeway, sending eight people—including a baby and a young child—into the water, reports WFLA. A crew from US Coast Guard Station at Fort Myers Beach got to the scene quickly and pulled everyone safely from the water, per a Coast Guard statement. Photos shared by the station show the boat nearly submerged following the incident off Fort Myers Beach on Friday, reports Fox News. There was no immediate word on what caused the boat to capsize.
