If you're hunting for the most livable city in 2026, the Economist Intelligence Unit says your ticket should read "Copenhagen." The Danish capital, also sometimes called the world's fairy-tale capital, topped the EIU's Global Livability Index for a second straight year, scoring full marks for stability, infrastructure, and education in a 173-city ranking that also weighs healthcare, culture, and environment, reports CNN. Honolulu is the best-performing US city at No. 25, while New York rises three spots to 66th amid lower crime and decreased perceived terror risk. Here, the top 10 cities on the EIU's list:

  1. Copenhagen, Denmark
  2. Vienna
  3. Melbourne, Australia
  4. Sydney
  5. Zurich
  6. Geneva
  7. Osaka, Japan
  8. Adelaide, Australia
  9. Vancouver, Canada
  10. Tokyo
