Senator Denounces Former Son-in-Law as Unfit for Office

Sen. Bernie Moreno on Sunday labeled his former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller, "a danger" who is unfit to serve in Congress, shortly after Miller said he is not abandoning his reelection campaign despite allegations of abuse. Emily Moreno, Moreno's daughter and Miller's ex-wife, has accused Miller of physically abusing her and their 2-year-old daughter. About 90 minutes before the senator's post on X, the Washington Post reports, Miller went live on the platform to deny all allegations, refusing to drop his reelection bid, and portraying the accusations as false or, in one case, an incident as "horseplay." If Ohio Republicans want to replace Miller on the ballot through a special election, they have to decide by Wednesday, per Axios.

Miller is seeking a third term in the House. "He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter," Moreno wrote on X, adding, "If there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them." Moreno had refrained from saying whether Miller should remain on the ballot, per the Guardian. In his livestream Sunday, Miller said, "I'm not getting out of this race, and I'm winning in November."
