London Cops Seize $10M in Supercars Over Weekend

London police just hauled away a weekend's worth of bad behavior on four wheels. Between Friday and Sunday, the Metropolitan Police impounded 90 high-end cars worth about $10 million in wealthy central neighborhoods including Hyde Park, Kensington, and Chelsea, calling it their biggest seizure since a crackdown on "antisocial driving" began five years ago. The offenses range from loud engine revving and cruising in convoys to street racing and other nuisance driving, reports CBS News.

Among the cars taken, per the Independent: a Lamborghini Revuelto, with a starting price of $600,000. More notably was a Ferrari Monza SP2, one of just 499 built, reportedly worth up to $5 million and in the UK for only a day, uninsured, and driven on a learner's permit by a driver who had been in the vehicle for only a half-hour. New powers let Met officers seize such vehicles immediately rather than issuing warnings. "We regularly hear from local people who are fed up with people driving cars dangerously in the area, or with modifications which make them a nuisance to those who live nearby," says Special Chief Inspector Geoff Tatman.
