Police in Wales are investigating an alleged assault in a bar that resulted in the death of a 102-year-old patron. Authorities in the town of Cwmbran say Phillip Ormerod was injured at the Crow's Nest pub on August 1 and later died in the hospital, reports the BBC. Police have arrested an unidentified 56-year-old man from Llanelli, also in Wales, on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The Telegraph, citing witness accounts, reports that Ormerod walked up three steps onto a stage where the band SuperHans was performing that night and asked that the volume be lowered, then got pushed back and fell off the stage. A band member later wrote on the band's Facebook page that he was "stepping away from being the guitarist for personal reasons," notes the newspaper. The band's page has since been taken down.

"We understand the public interest in this incident but want to remind people that, not only is this an active criminal investigation, but there is a family at the heart of it processing the loss of a loved one," says Shelley Comley of the Gwent police. Police are asking anyone in the pub between 10 and 11pm that night to come forward, per the Swansea Bay News.
