Iran Reportedly Weighs Strikes on US Bases in Europe

Iran is reportedly gaming out ways to bring its war with the US to Europe. The Financial Times reports that Tehran has evaluated American bases in countries including Bulgaria as potential targets if Washington intensifies strikes on Iranian infrastructure. Iran has also examined options for hitting subsea fiber-optic cables in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the report, which quotes two anonymous Iranian sources.

US European Command says it is aware of the claims and will take "appropriate actions," per Stars and Stripes. Analysts describe Iran's capacity to reach Europe as "real but limited," with targets likely limited to southern regions. The planning comes as President Trump has ramped up threats to take out Iranian bridges and other infrastructure every time Tehran strikes a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
