Gauffs Tell Relatives to Buy Their Own Tickets

Coco Gauff has a message for relatives eyeing a free seat at the US Open: Don't even ask. The 20-year-old defending champion reposted an Instagram note from her mother, Candi, telling family members that all of Gauff's guest tickets are spoken for and that they'll need to buy their own if they want to watch her in person. "I did not know she was posting this, but y'all done stressed my mom and dad out," Gauff wrote, per Essentially Sports, adding that she "cannot accommodate you and your plus six entourage 2 hours before my match."

With Gauff now world No. 4, fresh off a title at the Cincinnati Open and viewed as one of the favorites in New York, demand for her matches could be intense. Gauff discussed the frustration on Friday, per the AP. "People come out of the woodwork," she said. "You haven't spoken to someone for years. They don't say, 'Congrats' or, 'Happy birthday' or nothing. Then they're like, 'Oh, I'm in New York, can I have 8 tickets to your match in your box, please?"
