Stefany Shaheen insists she's not coasting on her last name, but New Hampshire voters will decide on Tuesday how much the Shaheen brand matters. A closer look by Politico into the "House of Shaheen" found that nearly 40% of her itemized donations for her congressional run came from people who'd previously backed her mother, outgoing Sen. Jeanne Shaheen—some reportedly at the senator's personal request. The family network has brought in help from figures like former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, who campaigned with Stefany Shaheen this spring.

Shaheen's chief rival in the Democratic primary for Rep. Chris Pappas' House seat, Maura Sullivan, is hammering that "fancy last name" in ads and casting the race as a fight against political dynasties. Polls show the two essentially neck and neck, with progressive Carleigh Beriont potentially splitting the vote. It's one of several political-family tests in this year's election cycle (see: Darline Graham, Jack Schlossberg). Shaheen is an ex-city councilor from Portsmouth who founded a company to help people with chronic medical conditions and who's also part of a state bio-tech initiative on regenerative medicine, per the AP. The New York Times has more on what to look for in Tuesday's primary in the Granite State.
