New Hampshire's Senate race hasn't been drawing as much attention as other November matchups, notes the Washington Post, but that's starting to change. After Tuesday's primaries, Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas will square off against former Sen. John E. Sununu, and Sununu has a real chance of doing something Republicans haven't done since 2010 in the state—win a Senate seat. "Chris Pappas is in a tighter race than most of the political class recognize," Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware tells Semafor.
A University of New Hampshire poll has Sununu up 45% to 43%, and a loss here would force Democrats to pick up five other Senate seats and hold their ground elsewhere. The Cook Political Report currently has the race as "Lean Democrat." The party also needs to hang on to Pappas' House district, where Stefany Shaheen, daughter of retiring Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, only narrowly won her primary.
