Utah's John Curtis has urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena Donald Trump Jr. over a luxe wedding celebration funded by a Russian oligarch closely aligned with Vladimir Putin, reports the Wall Street Journal. Trump Jr. has confirmed that Umar Kremlev, whom he described as a "dear friend," paid for the after-wedding celebration in the Bahamas. "A toaster is a wedding gift," wrote Curtis in a statement, per the New Republic. "A private-island party paid for by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else. Republicans nearly wore out the subpoena machine investigating Hunter Biden's foreign relationships. We should not unplug it now. 'Trust us' was not enough then, and it is not enough now." Curtis called for Trump Jr. to be subpoenaed in a three-page letter sent to Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley and top Democratic member Dick Durbin. He also called for the younger Biden, whose business dealings in Ukraine have come under question, to be summoned as well. Biden tells the Journal he'd happily show up, and he welcomed Don. Jr., Eric Trump, and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner to join him. Curtis is not up for reelection until 2030. Read These Next Witness describes botched execution as 'a mess.'
