Lionel Richie is stepping off the stage for now on doctor's orders. The 77-year-old singer has paused his tour after undergoing a heart procedure to treat atrial fibrillation, his rep told ABC News on Tuesday. "The doctor said everything went perfectly," per the rep, who added that Richie is "doing great" but will rest before returning to performing.
Richie, who launched a nationwide tour with Earth, Wind & Fire earlier this summer, had already postponed two shows after getting sick on stage in June and later checked himself into a hospital in August. TMZ cites a source as saying Richie's upcoming shows in San Francisco, Chicago, and Columbus have been canceled. Per his website, his next show will be Oct. 14 and will mark the first of six shows over a one-month period at the Wynn in Las Vegas.
