Kristi Noem already lost her job this year, and now she's seeking to lose her husband. The onetime Homeland Security chief has filed to end her 34-year marriage to Bryon Noem, according to South Dakota court records. The filing, submitted in Hamlin County on Monday but signed in April, cites "irreconcilable differences," reports Dakota News Now, and comes in the wake of a flurry of scandal involving her potential misconduct and relationship with former aide Corey Lewandowski, as well as Bryon Noem's penchant for cross dressing. State law puts the couple under a temporary restraining order while the case proceeds, reports ABC News.

Kristi Noem "has great faith in the South Dakota judicial system and will reserve any further comments for the legal process," said lawyer Michael Sabers. Noem, a former South Dakota governor who was fired as DHS secretary by President Trump in March, has long highlighted her high-school-sweetheart relationship; they share three children and several grandchildren. Bryon Noem was a frequent presence at her public events and congressional appearances; he has not commented.
