Kanye West's planned return to a major European stage has been put on ice. The rapper, who now goes by Ye, announced Tuesday on X that his June 11 show at Marseille's Orange Velodrome is postponed "until further notice," saying the move came "after much thought and consideration." His decision follows mounting political pressure in France. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez had reportedly been exploring ways to stop the concert, while Marseille Mayor Benoit Payan declared last month that he wouldn't allow the city to be used as a platform by "those who promote hatred and unapologetic Nazism," per France 24.

"I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends," West added on X, per the AP. "I take full responsibility for what's mine but I don't want to put my fans in the middle of it." The pushback comes amid broader international fallout over Ye's past antisemitic remarks and praise of Adolf Hitler, per France 24. Britain recently denied him entry, prompting the cancellation of London's Wireless Festival this summer, which he was supposed to headline; Australia barred him last year after he released a track titled "Heil Hitler" and promoted a swastika T-shirt.

In January, Ye ran a full-page Wall Street Journal ad saying sorry for his behavior, citing an undiagnosed brain injury and untreated bipolar disorder and disavowing his earlier comments about Hitler. West has performed in the US and Mexico City so far in 2026. Meanwhile, the rapper has been hit with a new lawsuit over a "cowardly attack."
