Celine Dion's rise from Quebec kid to international superstar is getting the prestige-TV treatment, with her family's blessing. Growing Up Dion (working title) will dramatize the 58-year-old Grammy-winning singer's early years in a crowded, music-soaked household of 14 children, her close relationship with mom Therese and dad Adhemar, and the path that led to her celebrity, per Deadline and Billboard Canada. It's the first dramatized take on Dion's childhood to have formal backing from her family: Brother Jacques Dion is producing, and the story draws from Dion, A Family Saga, written by nephew Jimmy Dion.
"This series represents something deeply meaningful for our family, as it captures the spirit, struggles, and love that defined our upbringing," says Jacques Dion. "We are proud to finally share this story with the world in a way that feels true to who we are." Zoe Green (Siren, Carnival Row) will serve as showrunner for the project from LA-based Diamant Rouge Entertainment, which is now shopping the show to buyers around the globe. Casting hasn't been announced for the series, which follows previous fictionalized portrayals of Dion on film and on stage.
