Sugar Ray Leonard is asking a court to keep his youngest son at a distance, saying the 25-year-old has spiraled into addiction and become a danger to the family. In a May 20 filing seeking a restraining order, the Hall of Fame boxer described Daniel Leonard as an addict and a chronic thief, alleging his son has overdosed four times and been revived twice in hospitals, according to documents reviewed by the New York Post.
"I love my son but he has become a danger not only himself but to his family," the 70-year-old Leonard wrote, adding that "we haven't had a day of peace in 9 years" and that he was "scared for my family," per TMZ. Leonard says a confrontation at his Pacific Palisades home on May 19 turned physical, prompting police to remove Daniel. A temporary restraining order was granted, but Daniel was arrested the next morning after allegedly returning, jail records show. A judge has ordered him to stay at least 100 yards away and move out, with hearings on a longer-term order scheduled for June.
