One of Deion Sanders' sons is taking flak for his comments directed at a veteran female NFL reporter. Shilo Sanders told longtime Cleveland Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot to "go make a sandwich" in a social media post after she suggested his brother Shedeur didn't deserve to be the team's starting quarterback, reports USA Today. Doubling down later on Twitch, Shilo complained that Cabot had "so much emotion" it clouds her reporting, per TMZ. Cabot opted not to return fire, notes a post at the media site Awful Announcing.
"I really do believe that I have been an inspiration for lots of women and young girls to know that you can go out there and do a good job in a man's world and take on all of that that comes with that," Cabot told Cleveland's 93.7 The Fan. Also, "I can make a mean grilled cheese with ham," she told the hosts. Cabot, who's covered the team since 1991 and last year received the Pro Football Writers Association's Bill Nunn Memorial Award, had reported that Shedeur is currently behind Deshaun Watson in Cleveland's quarterback pecking order and argued the team should quickly declare Watson the starter so the offense can "start to cook."
Shilo, who played with his brother at Colorado with their father as coach, objected to the sentiment. "Whenever you have your opinion and your opinion is always something hateful to Shedeur, then it makes it seem like it's something weird, like it's an agenda that you have going on," he said on Twitch. Shilo is no longer in football after wrapping up his college career at Colorado.
