Thermos is asking millions of its customers to put down their lunch holders and water bottles. USA Today reports that the company is recalling about 8.2 million insulated containers after reports that stoppers can shoot out with force, injuring users and, in at least three cases, causing permanent vision loss. The recall covers roughly 5.8 million Stainless King Food Jars (models SK3000 and SK3020, made before July 2023) and 2.3 million Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles (model SK3010), sold since 2008 at major retailers including Target, Walmart, and Amazon, per the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The affected stoppers lack a pressure-relief feature. Thermos says consumers should stop using the products immediately and contact the company for a free replacement stopper or container. Details are posted on Thermos' recall page and via its customer service line at 662-563-6822.
