A Secret Service officer who helped secure a golf tournament attended by President Trump on Sunday was arrested on an indecent exposure charge hours later. John Andrew Spillman, 33, was arrested in Miami after deputies allegedly found him naked and masturbating in a sixth-floor hallway of the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center, according to an arrest affidavit seen by the Guardian.

  • A woman told Miami-Dade deputies that Spillman followed her from the lobby to her floor, prompting her and others to rush into their room "in fear of their lives." The woman and hotel security told police they saw Spillman masturbating next to her room.

Spillman, who was off duty at the time, had earlier worked an external security screening detail at a PGA golf tournament at Trump National Doral, which the president attended, the Miami Herald reports. Spillman is based in Washington, DC, but he was in the Miami area to provide security at the event. The officer, who joined the Secret Service in 2019, was charged with indecent exposure and jailed with bond set at $1,000, reports the New York Times.

  • "The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel," Richard Macauley, chief of the US Secret Service Police," said in a statement to CNBC. "This agency takes these matters with the utmost seriousness; consequently, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of this criminal matter and a complete and thorough internal investigation."
