Kosher dining just hit a milestone in North Miami. Mutra, a Middle Eastern restaurant led by chef-owner Raz Shabtai, has become the first kosher establishment anywhere to earn a coveted Michelin star, reports WPLG Miami. "I feel extremely honored and blessed that God gave me the ability to do something that I can combine cultures together," Shabtai tells the outlet. "It doesn't matter your political views or your religion or something. Food is holy."
He says Mutra, which changes its menu every three months, has a "farm-to-table "ethos," per NBC Miami. A post at Ynet News calls the restaurant "an intimate space where the chef cooks from memories of Jerusalem." Shabtai named the restaurant for his Israeli grandmother, who taught him to cook and whom he credits with shaping both his food and his character.
