A New York McDonald's breakfast is at the center of a lawsuit that describes its Sausage McMuffin with Egg as essentially inedible. In a complaint filed May 26 in Manhattan Supreme Court, Texas resident Yvette Hinds says a sandwich she bought at a Times Square-area McDonald's in May 2023 was laced with "contaminants, poisons, toxins, parasites, bacteria [and/or] germs" and left her "violently ill" shortly after she finished it, per the Independent and WKRC. She alleges the food "infected and poisoned" her body, caused lasting damage to her physical and mental health, and forced her to undergo multiple medical procedures.
Hinds says she can no longer manage her usual responsibilities at home and expects ongoing medical costs, which the suit blames entirely on the allegedly "tainted" McMuffin. The filing accuses McDonald's and the franchise operator of negligence in everything from preparing to storing the food, arguing the chain implicitly promised it was safe to eat. Her attorney declined to detail her injuries; McDonald's has not commented. The case joins a string of recent lawsuits alleging contaminated or improperly prepared food at the fast-food giant, including claims involving metal and hair in a burger, a life-threatening allergic reaction to cheese, and a "rotten" chicken sandwich.
