Justin Cary, the longtime bassist for Sixpence None the Richer, has died at 50 following complications from a stroke, reports Page Six. A GoFundMe page set up after he was rushed to Albany Med Hospital in New York on June 11 reported that he had undergone two surgeries and remained in the ICU before he "passed peacefully" on Thursday with his wife, Linda, at his side, per People.
Cary joined Sixpence None the Richer in 1997, ahead of the band's breakout hit "Kiss Me," which climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination for best pop performance by a duo or group. "'We sure had a great time' is an understatement," reads an Instagram post from the band. "Thank you, Justin. We love you forever."
