A business trip to Chicago turned into something else entirely for Leah Melley. The Pittsburgh woman now says a man seated beside her on a Sept. 22 United Airlines flight touched her while masturbating, and that she hasn't heard anything about it since, per CBS News. Melley tells WPXI that she'd initially made small talk with the man sitting in the middle seat (she was seated near the window), then put in her AirPods for the duration of the flight so she didn't have to talk to anyone. She notes that the man kept raising the armrest between them, after she'd put it down, then pulled out a blanket about 30 minutes into the flight and started touching her arm.

When the man moved to her leg, then started moving toward her inner thigh, and she realized he'd "exposed himself and was touching himself," she at first froze, then told him she needed to get up. "He just looked at me and mouthed the [word] 'no' with this ... look in his eyes that I will not forget," she says, noting she eventually woke up the woman in the aisle seat and climbed over the man to get out. United confirms law enforcement met the aircraft at O'Hare and says an investigation is underway, adding that it apologized to Melley and that the man has been banned from flying pending further investigation.

Melley says she has heard nothing since, however, from Chicago police or the FBI and worries that the man remains free—possibly with access to her personal details from the work bag she left at her seat. "We are at week five," she tells WPXI. "Did you arrest him, did you charge him, are you going to charge him? Give me something." She added, "I have daughters. I have family. What if it had been one of them?" Chicago police referred questions to the FBI; the FBI declined to comment, citing Justice Department policy. People received the same response from the FBI, which deferred to the US Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois; People says it still hasn't heard back from that office.
