A summer street festival in Toronto turned into a crime scene Saturday night, leaving two men dead and at least four people seriously injured. Police say gunfire broke out around 8pm during the city's Salsa on St. Clair event, which drew an estimated 13,000 attendees, reports CTV. Deputy Chief Frank Barredo described it as an "exchange of gunfire" between people "targeting each other," not a random attack.

Initial police posts warned of an "active shooter," but Barredo later called that description incorrect, citing the confusion in the first moments of the incident. Witnesses reported crowds fleeing and people being knocked down as they tried to escape, per the AP. No arrests have been made. Two firearms were recovered and three separate crime scenes have been identified, with investigators now reviewing large amounts of video and witness statements. None of the victims have been publicly identified.
