Musk picked up on those allegations by calling the OpenAI chief "Scam Altman" and saying he "takes scamming to a whole new level," then escalated with a string of mocking posts, CNBC reports. Altman fired back that Musk is the one pitching public investors on "short-term space datacenters," prompting Musk to retort with a parole officer quip.

The constructive criticism progressed to Altman, who called his rival "homeboy," framing Musk's fixation as proof that OpenAI's new GPT-5.6 Sol model is strong, while Musk's xAI just released Grok 4.5. OpenAI has said it has "no interest in other companies trade secrets." Musk, who cofounded OpenAI, recently litigated his own suit against the company, which didn't work out for him.
