Paul Pelosi's Driving Record Just Got Another Ding

Paul Pelosi is back in a Napa County courtroom's sights, this time over what prosecutors say was a fender bender he didn't stick around for. The 86-year-old husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run tied to a July 3 crash in Northern California, where authorities say he hit an empty parked car in Yountville with his brown convertible and then left the scene, report NBC News and the AP. He's accused of failing to stop and provide information after a collision—an offense that carries up to six months in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both—as well as making an improper turn.

Prosecutors say that Pelosi's car broke down less than a mile away from the crash scene, and that he told deputies who found him there that he knew he'd hit something but wasn't sure exactly what, per the New York Times. Investigators say Pelosi's vehicle sustained damage "consistent with the recent crash," per NBC. The Napa County Sheriff's Office has said alcohol didn't appear to be involved, and that Pelosi wasn't arrested. He's due in court on Aug. 14. A family spokesperson said Pelosi apologized directly to the other car's owner and promised to cover the damage, adding that Nancy Pelosi won't comment further, calling it a private matter. Pelosi previously pleaded guilty to DUI in a separate Napa-area crash in 2022 and served two days in jail.
