Trump Administration Sends Back $100B in Voided Tariffs

Importers are starting to see their money back from President Trump's reversed tariff blitz—about $100 billion of it so far. In a court filing Tuesday, the administration said it has processed refunds for roughly 60% of the $166 billion collected under Trump's 2025 "liberation day" tariffs, which the Supreme Court struck down in February after finding the emergency law he used didn't authorize them. Customs officials say nearly $129 billion in potential and approved refunds have entered a new tracking system, with $100 billion already processed, reports CNBC.

Meanwhile, the Guardian reports Trump is trying to rebuild his tariff program under section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, which targets countries that use forced labor—a move that is drawing fresh legal challenges.
