Perez Hilton's family says the celebrity blogger remains hospitalized in Florida after a livestream that appeared to show him harming himself. In a statement posted on his website Saturday, relatives said the 48-year-old, whose legal name is Mario Lavandeira, lost a significant amount of blood and faces surgery in the coming days. "His treatment and recovery will be a long process," says the statement, per People.

"We want to confirm that Perez remains hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act," says the statement, referring to a law that, among other things, allows the temporary detention of a person who runs the risk of self-harm. Miami-Dade authorities responded Tuesday to reports of someone streaming acts of self-harm and said they brought the person to a hospital, without naming Hilton. TikTok said the livestream was ultimately removed after its automated systems flagged it, but acknowledged a moderator error delayed that action.
