If you land in one of the hospitals shown below, US News & World Report thinks you're in especially good hands. The outlet has released its "Best Hospitals Honor Roll," spotlighting 20 medical centers that score highest across a wide range of complex specialties and common procedures. The rankings were compiled by examining objective patient outcomes, the quality of nursing staff, and patient experience metrics across 14 specialties and nearly two dozen specific procedures or conditions. The list of the best, in alphabetical order:

  • Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles)
  • Cleveland Clinic
  • Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia)
  • Houston Methodist Hospital
  • Johns Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore)
  • Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston)
  • Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota)
  • Mayo Clinic-Arizona (Phoenix)
  • Mayo Clinic-Florida (Jacksonville)
  • Mount Sinai Hospital (New York City)
  • NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell (New York City)
  • Northwestern Medicine-Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago)
  • NYU Langone Hospitals (New York City)
  • Rush University Medical Center (Chicago)
  • Stanford Health Care-Stanford Hospital (Palo Alto, California)
