A man in Lewisville, Texas, stopped at an ATM to withdraw some money and instead found a bag stuffed with more than $128,000 in cash sitting atop the machine, reports USA Today. He ended up turning every dollar over to police. "I've never had a case like this before, ever," Lewisville Police Detective Gina Miller tells CBS News. It was apparently a case of monumental absent-mindedness: Police say a Brinks technician serviced the Bank of America ATM and left the cash sitting there—along with another bag containing 19 checks—when he left.
The Good Samaritan has been identified only as a 37-year-old local barber. Before calling police, he first took the bag of money to a nearby Chick-fil-A, because a label on the bag suggested it belonged to the restaurant. When a manager there told him it wasn't theirs, the man called 911, and officers got to the bottom of the mystery. No word yet on whether he will get any sort of reward.
