'That's 100% Him': Bodycam Footage of Mangione Arrest

Newly released police body cam footage from a Pennsylvania McDonald's shows the moment officers confronted Luigi Mangione and realized he was the fugitive sought in the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The footage, obtained by CNN, tracks Altoona officers as they question Mangione on December 9, 2024, watch him hand over a bogus "Mark Rosario" ID, then cuff him and search his pockets and black backpack. Inside: a gun magazine wrapped in underwear, and later at the station, a firearm and a handwritten notebook prosecutors have labeled his "manifesto."

"That's 100 percent him," one officer says to another outside the restaurant, per Mediaite. "I told you, man," replied the other. Later, when an officer discovers the gun magazine, another says, "It's f---ing him." The recording had been sealed after a suppression hearing where Mangione's lawyers challenged the backpack search and Miranda warnings. Judge Gregory Carro later agreed to release the footage after Mangione pleaded guilty to federal charges. His attorneys are asking the judge to toss the state murder case on double jeopardy grounds, and a ruling is pending.
