A plane with six people aboard lost contact during a flight from Bermuda to Boston, and the US Coast Guard said it was searching early Saturday for the missing aircraft off the coast of Nantucket. The Coast Guard said the Federal Aviation Administration reported that the Gulfstream G100 had lost contact very early Saturday, per the AP. The plane had been conducting a medical evacuation, Clarence Togeretz of Latitude Air Ambulance, which operates the aircraft, tells NBC News.
In audio from Boston's air traffic control heard by NBC, controllers asked the plane if it was "coming in blind," then asked another plane to contact the G100, though it's not clear if that second plane had been able to. The Massachusetts Port Authority says the plane never arrived at Boston's Logan International Airport. The search for the jet included crews in the air and on the water, the Coast Guard said, per the AP. The aircraft had taken off from Bermuda's LF Wade International Airport for a nearly two-hour, late-night flight to Logan, according to FlightAware.
