Controversial comedian Shane Gillis dropped an f-bomb during his third stint hosting Saturday Night Live over the weekend, but that wasn't what irked Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy. Levy took to Instagram to blast Gillis' monologue, in which the comedian said women who frequent gyms "dress like whores" because they wear tight shorts. "I'm sorry, there's no other way to describe [it]," Gillis said, per PennLive. Levy disagreed. "Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists," he wrote, adding he was "speechless that something like that can exist on live national television."
Levy said more men need to oppose such language "because it's complacency that has created the environment in which women are sexually assaulted and it's a 'conversation' as opposed to a 'crime.'" Gillis, who was hired then swiftly fired as an SNL cast member in 2019 over his past use of racial and anti-gay slurs, also referred to his "two big, fat-b---- sisters," said it was "gay" to brush his hair to the side, and compared his hairline to that of Adolf Hitler. Variety concludes Gillis bombed, and not for the first time. The comedian ended the show with a quick apology after blurting out the f-word during a Dr. Seuss-themed sketch, but some social media users said he ought to have been apologizing for his "disgusting" monologue instead, per the Independent.
