It's not your usual football diagnosis: Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the season because of blood clots in both lungs, reports ESPN and the Athletic. The 28-year-old last played in a game on Oct. 11. Hurts—named Super Bowl MVP in 2025 after leading his team to a championship—has to go on blood thinners for months and can't play while he's on the medication.

His diagnosis is deep vein thrombosis along with bilateral pulmonary emboli, according to a statement from his agent and the team. Hurts is expected to remain around the team over the next few months while on the blood thinners, and he should be able to play next season if the treatment works as planned. "We anticipate that he will have no long-term effect," says the statement.
