Values Voters Pick Romney, Barely

Mitt Romney came home with a slim lead over Mike Huckabee in yesterday's straw poll at the Family Research Council's Values Voters Summit in Washington, reports CNN. Romney won nearly 28% of the 5,776 conservative Christian votes, with the former Arkansas governor falling just 30 votes behind. Ron Paul took 15%, and Fred Thompson 10% of the poll.

Rudy Guiliani only brought in 107 votes, but still edged out John McCain, with 81. Analysts caution that those taking part in the summit may not accurately represent the pool of Christian voters, and a Thompson spokeswoman stressed her candidate's victory in other polls over his poor showing in this "unscientific" survey.
