"I don't play when it comes to my bread," said Cardi B in an Instagram Live video in which she revealed she's been the victim of credit card fraud. The rapper, whom the BBC reports pegged her net worth at $88 million in 2024, told fans that someone took her American Express card on a high-end shopping spree worth about $60,000—and she wants them behind bars.
In an expletive-laced Instagram Live (TMZ has the video here), the rapper claimed thieves charged roughly $40,000 at Saks Fifth Avenue and another $20,000 at an Apple Store before the card was disabled. She said she realized something was wrong when her phone—set to ping with every AmEx charge—alerted her to the charges, made 35 minutes apart while she was on tour.
Cardi said she initially thought a team member might have done the Saks shopping, though "I haven't been buying clothes like that ever since I've been on tour." But the Apple charge made her realize something was amiss, she said. Her accountant noticed too and called her to confirm that "some funny activity is going on."
Cardi had a joke's-on-you message for the thieves: "I got clear, clear pictures of you trying to get money out of a [ATM]. I got clear pictures of y'all in Saks, and I got clear pictures with y'all in Apple. Y'all going to jail. Y'all going to prison and I'm gonna make y'all pay me back. Because one thing about me, I don't play about my money."
