Lauren Boebert says President Trump can threaten a primary challenge all he wants—on the calendar, that door is closed. The Colorado Republican told Chris Cuomo at NewsNation that her June GOP primary is already "settled" and the ballot is certified, with no window left for a write-in, meaning she's locked into a one-on-one matchup with a Democrat in November. As far as incurring Trump's wrath, "I stand by everything that I did in this race," Boebert said. "I announced that I was for my president, Donald J. Trump, and also I was going to stand by my friend Thomas Massie. I think it's OK to do both. You don't have to be a rubber stamp for the president to support him, align with him, and also follow his agenda."
Trump lashed out at Boebert over the weekend after she backed her ally Rep. Thomas Massie in his Kentucky primary against Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein, notes Mediaite. Calling Massie "the Worst 'Republican' Congressman in the History of our Country," Trump said "anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight" and floated pulling his Boebert endorsement if a challenger emerged. But Colorado's filing deadline for the 4th District passed March 18, and Boebert is unopposed in the GOP race. Ballots have already been certified and mailed to overseas voters, per Colorado Newsline. Boebert is the third House Republican Trump has gone after for signing a bill to force the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files; Massie lost his primary this week, and Marjorie Taylor Greene resigned earlier this year after sustained attacks from the president.
