(AP Photo/Stefan Jeremiah, File) Rep. Tom Kean Jr. is set to end a monthslong absence from Washington, with his office saying he'll be back on the House floor June 30 after missing 135 votes, NBC News reports. His chief of staff confirmed the timing but, as before, offered no details beyond citing a "personal medical issue." He said Kean will address the matter upon his return. Kean will attend just three days of votes before the House takes a week off for the Independence Day holiday, the New Jersey Globe reports. June 30 will be 117 days after Kean's last vote, Politico reports. Kean, a New Jersey Republican who last recorded a vote on March 5, is running for a second term and will face Democrat Rebecca Bennett, a former Navy helicopter pilot and healthcare executive, in November. President Trump has re-upped his support, saying Kean has his "Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election." House Speaker Mike Johnson has publicly defended Kean's silence on his condition as "a member's personal privacy on whatever matters they're dealing with," while also saying he's sure Kean will "be fully transparent and disclose all that" and has "encouraged" him to do just that.
