Bear Runs at Young Boy —Then Meets His Pet Dog

A Connecticut family is more grateful than ever to have a dog after their home security system captured the pooch chasing off a bear charging straight at a 6-year-old. Surveillance video from Saturday in Torrington shows a black bear running toward the boy playing in the family's driveway, only to be met by pet husky mix, Bella, who charges and chases the animal off, snapping at its backside as it flees, per ABC News.

"She bit it in the rear end, and the bear ended up crashing into my boat," before slipping under it and fleeing into the woods, owner Jeff Tazzara tells the outlet after describing the "scary" encounter on Facebook. Neither the child nor the dog was hurt. Tazzara tells WTNH that Bella has always been protective of his kids, particularly around strangers, but this was her first big test. Her reward for passing it? Tazzara is thinking "probably a T-bone," per UPI.
