Apparent Road Rage Incident Fells US Cyclist in France

A US cyclist's ride to the start line at the Tour de France turned into a scary moment on Tuesday. Brandon McNulty got knocked off his bike after colliding with a stopped car in an apparent road-rage incident, reports Cycling News. McNulty was not seriously injured and was to ride as expected on Tuesday for his team, UAE Emirates XRG. Team boss Mauro Gianetti explained what happened:

• "He was just coming to the start with the bike. One car was a little bit upset behind him—we don't know why—and then he overpassed Brandon, and he stopped the car. Unfortunately, of course, Brandon, he crashed on the car."

The incident happened before the start of stage 16 in Evian-les-Bains, on a public road, per the Athletic. The driver is not affiliated with the race, and it was unclear if any charges were to be filed. McNulty began the day 19th overall, more than 50 minutes behind teammate and race leader Tadej Pogacar.
