Six weeks after a fall sent him to a hospital and away from Capitol Hill, Sen. Mitch McConnell is still out—and even his supporters are urging him to inform the public about his condition. The 84-year-old Kentucky Republican has said he didn't break bones or suffer a cardiac or neurological event and is now in rehab, but he has offered no timeline for returning to vote. GOP ally Scott Jennings said Thursday on CNN that McConnell should "routinely update his constituents on how he's doing," the Washington Post reports. "I think a little transparency on the front end here would have saved him a whole lot of grief," Jennings said.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he hasn't heard back despite writing McConnell and urged a brief TV call-in or video "like anybody else" would owe a boss. Another Democrat, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, said that if McConnell "can't give us an update, he should resign," per the Independent. His office insisted he's working remotely on Senate business and referred to earlier statements, saying it had "nothing to add," per NJ.com. Republican Sen. Josh Hawley told Fox News he's "totally in the dark" about McConnell's condition, per the Post. "At a certain point you do have an obligation to your constituents and the country to tell them what's going on," Hawley said.
