Senators investigating Anthony Fauci's pandemic-era decisions now have a digital clone of his iPhone, reports the Wall Street Journal. The Department of Health and Human Services recently turned the copy over to the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, led by Sen. Ron Johnson, potentially opening a new trove of records from Fauci's time running the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. "Hopefully, this device will address many of the questions he refused to answer at last week's hearing," wrote Johnson on social media, per the Washington Post.

The move follows the release of Fauci's personal journals to Congress and comes as Republicans Johnson and Sen. Rand Paul intensify efforts to question him on Covid policies and the virus's origins. Paul's Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is set to vote Thursday on whether to hold Fauci in contempt over his refusal to answer questions at the hearing, per the AP.
