President Trump's approval rating just sank to a new low of his second presidency. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll finds only 33% of Americans approve of his performance, with 64% disapproving—a drop from 35% earlier this month and his weakest showing since returning to the White House in 2025. It also ties the lowest rating of his first term, per USA Today. The slide comes as voters sour on the drawn-out war with Iran, launched without formal congressional authorization, and its impact on gas prices.

Eight in 10 Americans expect US involvement to drag on "for an extended period," according to the survey conducted Friday through Monday, and only about 20% say the war has been worth it. Trump has argued that paying "a tiny little bit more" at the pump is justified to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. "I'll never apologize, I did the right thing," he said Friday, per the Hill. The conflict is rattling Republicans ahead of November's midterms, with the poll giving Democrats a narrow edge on handling the economy and the cost of living. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
