Selena Gomez wants out of a lawsuit tied to her mental health startup, with her attorney calling the claims against her "completely meritless if not frivolous." In a motion filed on Wednesday, lawyer Mathew Rosengart asked a judge to remove Gomez from a suit brought by two investment entities behind Wondermind, which accuse Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and co-founder Daniella Pierson of misleading them about the company's structure and stability, People reports.
Rosengart argues that Gomez was a minority investor and consultant with a "Chief Impact Officer" title, not a key part of Wondermind's management, which he says rested with Teefey and Pierson as co-CEOs. He says they're weighing sanctions against the plaintiffs for naming Gomez in the complaint, which Forbes notes was filed on Aug. 13. Pierson has "categorically" denied the investors' claims, per People; Teefey hasn't commented.
