Police Make Surprise Find: Stolen Bust of Olympian

Police in St. Paul, Minnesota, have recovered the stolen bust of local Olympian Suni Lee entirely by chance. As MPR reports, officers responded to reports of shots fired at a party over the weekend and secured a search warrant to search the premises. They found the bust of Lee, which was stolen from a local park more than a year ago, inside a closet of the residence. Lee is a St. Paul native and a gold medalist.

The investigation of how the bust came to be there continues, but Ramsey County prosecutors charged 22-year-old Dashawn Caradine with one count of receiving stolen property, reports the Minnesota Star Tribune. Caradine lives at the searched residence with his mother, who reportedly told police that she found the bust in some bushes about a month ago and wasn't sure who to contact. The bust, which is estimated to be worth about $7,000, will be returned to St. Paul's Phalen Regional Park.
