Gloria Steinem's last major interview is now public—and she uses it to turn the spotlight away from herself. In a Netflix special recorded in February 2025 and released the day her death was announced, USA Today reports that the then-90-year-old writer and activist resists being labeled the face of feminism, insisting the movement is broad and led in significant part by women of color. "It has more to do with endurance," she says of her prominence, per Netflix, noting that many of her contemporaries moved on while she "stayed at it longer."

In Famous Last Words: Gloria Steinem with series creator Brad Falchuk, she moves between sharp critique (calling Hugh Hefner "incredibly pathetic"), everyday confessions (she liked Dance Moms), and reflections on legacy, death, and the world under President Trump. She jokes about aiming to match a 135-year-old Himalayan woman's lifespan, and muses about where she might be laid to rest, but is clear about how she hopes to be remembered: as someone "who tried to make the world a little more equal, compassionate, joyful, funny than it was when I showed up." Her parting message urges viewers to tell their own stories, calling that "the most important thing we can do for each other."
