President Trump's preferred term for artificial intelligence might not be catching on widely, but he appears determined to make "super intelligence" happen. In a Truth Social post Tuesday, he blasted the Wall Street Journal for continuing to refer to artificial intelligence and said his administration is "banning" the term AI "in all relevant documents, and everything else," the Hill reports.

  • "When will The Wall Street Journal start calling Artificial Intelligence (AI), a very bad and inaccurate name, SI (Super Intelligence), the name which virtually everyone else is using, or soon will be," Trump wrote. "In short order, we will be officially BANNING the term, 'AI/Artificial Intelligence,' in all relevant documents, and everything else, due to its inaccuracy."

Trump has already signed a September executive order telling the executive branch to swap AI for SI. At the United Nations last month, he said the US would officially relabel AI as SI in its documents. He's also launched a "Super Intelligence Force," led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, to coordinate federal policy on the technology. Earlier this month, he declared that the White House views anyone still using the term AI as "THE ENEMY." The term artificial intelligence was coined more than 70 years ago and it is still used by most AI companies, Variety reports. Anthropic and OpenAI still refer to artificial intelligence and AI, though Elon Musk has praised the new term and SpaceXAI is now known as SpaceXSI.
