Lizzo Made an Unusual Grammys Promise to Herself

On the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Lizzo let loose a secret of her own. The 37-year-old singer revealed on Tuesday that she didn't have sex for the first time until after taking home three Grammys in 2020—fulfilling a pact she'd made to herself years earlier. "I just promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn't have sex until I won a Grammy," she told hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco, reports Rolling Stone. The self-described "late bloomer" said she didn't have her first kiss until 21, citing a church pledge to abstain before marriage.

"I lied about it for a long time," she said of her virginity, sharing the story of a night with girlfriends while at the University of Houston where she was asked if she was still a virgin and responded with a "No!" adding, "I love the D." She continued, "I said that. I was so embarrassing." She says she didn't have sex on Grammys night but a short time later. Entertainment Weekly reports the singer has been dating comedian Myke Wright since 2021.
