A private Tennessee boat outing is the latest headline in the Mike Vrabel–Dianna Russini saga. TMZ reports that the New England Patriots coach and the former ESPN reporter rented a boat together in June 2021 for a two- to three-hour trip, with documents showing they both signed a waiver and were the only passengers aboard. At the time, Russini was pregnant with her first child with husband Kevin Goldschmidt; she gave birth that August. TMZ's source says the pair tried to avoid photos, with Russini declining staff snapshots and Vrabel, who was coach of the Tennessee Titans at the time, asking that one image he agreed to not be posted publicly.
The report surfaces weeks after Page Six published photos of Vrabel and Russini holding hands and embracing at an Arizona resort in March, and later ran images of the two kissing in a New York City bar in 2020. Both initially denied wrongdoing, with Russini insisting the Arizona visit involved a larger group of people. Meanwhile, TMZ details another clip that has resurfaced of the two playing Barstool's virtual version of Family Feud, in which Russini is asked, "What is something you might close your eyes to do?" Her answer: "When you have sex with your husband or wife," to which Vrabel is seen shaking his head.
Russini has since resigned from her role as a senior NFL insider at the Athletic and deleted her social media accounts, per Page Six. Vrabel, who has been married since 1999, said last month he would briefly step away from the Patriots to seek counseling and focus on his family, acknowledging his "previous actions" fell short of his own standards. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is standing by his coach, calling Vrabel a "great human being" on Wednesday and speculating that the scandal will "take care of itself," per the AP. "He's done a great job of talking to us and talking us through it," Maye said. "I'm just looking forward to getting back to work and getting ready."
