President Trump says he got two big pledges out of Xi Jinping in their Thursday meeting—one about Iran and one about Boeing. In an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity, Trump said the Chinese leader "strongly" assured him that Beijing would not supply military hardware to Iran. Trump added that Xi stressed China's energy ties to Tehran, noting that China buys "a lot" of Iranian oil and "would like to keep doing that."
- Xi "wants a deal." Xi "would like to see a deal made" to end the war, Trump told Hannity. "And he did offer, he said, 'if I can be of any help at all, I would like to be of help.'" Trump also recounted Xi voicing irritation about Iran reportedly charging passage fees in the Strait of Hormuz, and joking that "they stopped it, then you stopped them" after US action in the waterway.
