A California influencer who shares a daughter with former boy-band singer Jack Avery is now accused of trying to have him killed. Prosecutors say 24-year-old TikTok personality Gabbie Gonzalez; her 59-year-old father Francisco Gonzalez; and now ex-boyfriend Kai Faron Cordrey, 26, plotted to hire a hitman via the dark web amid a contentious custody fight with the 26-year-old Why Don't We alum, reports Rolling Stone. All three were charged in Los Angeles County with attempted murder, conspiracy, and solicitation of murder; they face up to life in prison if convicted.
Prosecutors allege that Gonzalez pushed for Avery's death between late 2020 and mid-2021, with Cordrey and Francisco Gonzalez allegedly funneling at least $14,000 via a crypto account to a supposed murder-for-hire service under the alias "LizardKing69." The "service" was actually monitored by authorities, according to prosecutors, who say an undercover FBI agent later posed as a hitman and recorded Cordrey and Francisco discussing payment, proof of death, and Gonzalez's involvement.
Gonzalez was arrested last week in Northern California, per court filings. Her arraignment was delayed to Thursday, with bail set at $2 million and a no-contact order protecting Avery and the 7-year-old child. In a separate court filing, Avery, who the San Francisco Chronicle notes lives in Hawaii, said the FBI first told him in 2021 that someone had allegedly tried to hire a killer to target him.
